ZINKY'S STORY
Tech Professionals Deserve Better — And I've Had Enough
Alright, let's get something straight.
I'm Zinky. A raccoon with a blue hoodie, a questionable attitude (caused entirely by this ridiculous job-hunting circus) and absolutely no patience left for the nonsense that technology professionals are expected to put up with.
I've watched recruiters disappear faster than job adverts promising an immediate start. I've seen companies demand seventeen technologies for a salary that wouldn't tempt a junior developer. And don't even get me started on LinkedIn.
Apparently, everyone's humbled, honoured and delighted.
Meanwhile, technology professionals are wondering whether their CV has been rejected by an algorithm before an actual human has even opened it.
So I decided enough was enough.
That's Why I Created ZinkedUp
Yep, i know the name is clearly a cheeky spin-off to LinkedIn.
I changed a letter here and there, added a bit of attitude and created something for technology professionals who've had enough of the original experience.
LinkedIn helps you connect with 10,000 people you've never met, 500 recruiters who never reply and a bloke in Dubai who wants to sell you cryptocurrency.
ZinkedUp? I'd rather give technology professionals a voice than another 10,000 connections that lead absolutely nowhere.
And no, I'm not affiliated with LinkedIn. I'm just very familiar with the circus.ZinkedUp is an independent, satirical publication giving technology professionals a louder voice on the realities of finding work, navigating careers and dealing with a recruitment industry that desperately needs a reality check.
I'm here to say the things people are thinking but rarely get to say publicly.Sometimes
I'll make you laugh. Sometimes I'll make you angry and sometimes I'll say exactly what everyone else is too polite to say.
More Than Just a Newsletter
Now, I could spend my days posting inspirational quotes about resilience, pretending every rejection is a blessing in disguise and calling myself a thought leader.
But frankly, I think LinkedIn has enough of those already.
So I thought I'd try something a little more useful.
I'm building a community of technology professionals who believe recruitment should be fairer, more transparent and considerably less ridiculous.
And believe me, I've got plenty to talk about.
Recruiters who vanish into thin air. Job adverts apparently written by someone who's never met an IT professional.
Employers who expect candidates to jump through flaming hoops for the privilege of receiving an automated rejection.
LinkedIn influencers dispensing career wisdom between motivational selfies.
Because apparently, posting about leadership makes you a leader.
And then there's the wonderful world of Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), AI-driven CV screening and keyword-matching algorithms.
You know, those clever little systems that can filter out capable technology professionals like you and me before an actual human being has even looked at our applications.
What a time to be alive.
But ZinkedUp isn't just about having a good moan.
I want to share real experiences, celebrate the recruiters and employers getting things right, ask the awkward questions, challenge the absurdities and give technology professionals a platform where their frustrations, opinions and stories actually matter.
And if I can make a few people laugh while doing it, even better.
Because technology professionals deserve more than another rejection email, another inspirational LinkedIn post and another recruiter promising to call them back.
The Good Ones Deserve Some Credit
Now, before every recruiter and hiring manager starts sharpening their pitchforks, let me make something clear.
I'm not here to attack every recruiter or employer. Far from it.
There are some genuinely brilliant recruiters out there. People who actually understand technology, take the time to learn about candidates, communicate properly, give honest feedback and treat professionals with respect.
And there are employers who value experience, recognise potential, run sensible interview processes and understand that hiring someone shouldn't require six interviews, three technical assessments and a presentation to the entire board of directors.
Those are the people I want to celebrate, not criticise.
But then there are the others. We all know them!
The recruiters who disappear without explanation. The employers who advertise positions they seemingly have no intention of filling.
The hiring processes that drag on for months. And the systems that reduce years of genuine technical experience to whether someone remembered to include the latest fashionable keyword on their CV.
If you're doing recruitment properly, you've got nothing to worry about. You might even get a round of applause from me.
But if you're still relying on ghosting candidates, endless interview rounds, unrealistic job requirements and hiring processes that make absolutely no sense, perhaps it's time to rethink a few things.
I'm not here to point fingers. I'm here to point out what's broken — preferably with a bit of humour along the way.
And before anyone complains, remember: I'm just a raccoon in a hoodie. If I'm making more sense than your recruitment process, that might be worth thinking about.
You've Found Your People
Whether you're a contractor between assignments, an experienced engineer being overlooked, a graduate trying to get your first break or a technology leader wondering what happened to common sense in hiring, you're welcome here.
No manufactured inspiration. No endless corporate back-patting.
Just real stories, sharp humour, honest conversations and a community that wants things to change.
I'm not promising to fix the entire recruitment industry overnight.
But I can promise to make a lot more noise about what's wrong with it.
And if enough technology professionals join me, perhaps someone will finally start listening.

And remember, if a recruiter tells you you're the perfect candidate and then disappears, don't worry.Apparently, that's just called building relationships these days.
Stay loud. Stay ZinkedUp.
